Direct arylation of heteroaromatic compounds with congested, functionalised aryl bromides at low palladium/triphosphane catalyst loading.
2011
International audience; A new ferrocenyl triphosphane ligand associated to palladium was found to be an efficient catalyst for the direct coupling of highly congested, functionalised aryl bromides with a variety of heteroarenes. These coupling reactions can generally be performed by using a low-loading (0.1-0.5 mol%) of the catalyst. The present protocol tolerates important and useful functional groups, which allows for further elaboration into more sophisticated heterocyclic molecules. The straightforward arylation of heteroaromatic compounds with congested ortho-substituted aryl bromides may permit further convergent syntheses of diverse ligands, biologically active molecules and molecula…
Ferric sludge derived from the process of water purification as an efficient catalyst and/or support for the removal of volatile organic compounds
2019
Ferric chloride solutions are used as coagulants or flocculants in water treatment operations for human consumption. This treatment produces large amounts of clay-type solids formed mainly of montmorillonite with iron oxides and humic substances. This ferric sludge can be used as an efficient catalyst for the removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by total oxidation. This waste isolated in the purification process has been activated by calcinations in air, characterized by several physicochemical techniques and employed as a catalyst for the removal by total oxidation of representative VOCs: toluene, propane and mixtures of toluene/propane with or without water. This ferric sludge has…
Isolated Fe(III)-O Sites Catalyze the Hydrogenation of Acetylene in Ethylene Flows under Front-End Industrial Conditions
2018
[EN] The search for simple, earth-abundant, cheap, and nontoxic metal catalysts able to perform industrial hydrogenations is a topic of interest, transversal to many catalytic processes. Here, we show that isolated FeIII¿O sites on solids are able to dissociate and chemoselectively transfer H2 to acetylene in an industrial process. For that, a novel, robust, and highly crystalline metal¿organic framework (MOF), embedding FeIII¿OH2 single sites within its pores, was prepared in multigram scale and used as an efficient catalyst for the hydrogenation of 1% acetylene in ethylene streams under front-end conditions. Cutting-edge X-ray crystallography allowed the resolution of the crystal structur…
Iron Porphyrins as Models of Cytochromec Oxidase
2001
A series of iron porphyrins has been synthesized as models of cytochrome c oxidase; their activity as 4 e− catalysts in the reduction of dioxygen has been studied at pH 7. These compounds have been obtained by grafting very different residues onto the same iron complex, namely tripodal tetraamines, pickets, and straps, in order to change the environment of the metal center. In the case of porphyrins bearing a tripodal cap, the secondary amines have been alkylated with different substituents so as to modify the electronic environment of the distal pocket. Surprisingly, when the iron porphyrin is functionalized with four identical acrylamido pickets, the resulting complex exhibits biomimetic …
